We are all extremely excited to introduce our BRAND NEW beech smoked mackerel to our delicious Luss Smokehouse range!
Our mackerel is truly delicious (even if we do say so ourselves), mainly because we only use 3 basic ingredients; fish - our mackerel comes from the North Atlantic, salt and beech smoke. By smoking the mackerel over beech smoke this gives a succulent, delicate and slightly sweet smoke that compliments the fish perfectly without overpowering it's natural flavours.
With the highest amount of protein out of the whole smokehouse range, our beech smoked mackerel is extremely popular with body builders and fitness fanatics. The mackerel is an ideal ingredient to use for healthy meals and snacks - we try our hardest not to eat it all when it's with us in the factory!
Speaking of meals and snacks... our mackerel fillets come in 200g pack sizes which makes it the ideal dine in dish for two. Why not try making some mackerel fish cakes or a delicious healthy mackerel and beetroot salad? Or, our mackerel can simply be eaten all by itself if it's just a snack you're after!
With our beech smoked mackerel, we've even made a delicious mackerel pate. The idea and recipe came from our very own fish wife - mackerel loving - Lauren... so it's officially named Lauren's Mackerel Pate! In our mackerel pate we add just a hint of tomato puree, pepper and lemon juice, this gives the pate that extra little flavour kick that makes it stand out from the rest.
